How do I configure the Forgot Password option in Plan-IT Workshop?

Since version 5.171.9814, Plan-IT Workshop has a password forgotten function.

When a user has forgotten the password, they can change it temselves.

Follow the below steps to configure this.



Configure the password forgotten function

  1. Click in the menubar on the option System.
  2. Select the option Management.
  3. In the management window, click with the right mouse button on the green PLAN-IT bar.
  4. In the contextmenu, select the option Systemsettings.




  1. In the System window, go to the tab Forgot your password.
  2. Enter the mail server details. Ask your system administrator for the correct data.
  3. Then click on the Save button in the bottom right corner.




  1. In the bottom right corner, click on the User button to switch to the user section.




  1. In the user section, click with the right mouse button on a user for which you want to activate the password forgotten option.
  2. In the contextmenu click on the option Edit user.




  1. In the Edit user window, enter the e-mailaddress of this user in the E-mail field. Plan-IT will send a temporary password to this e-mailaddress when the user has forgotten the password.
  2. Then click on the Save button in the bottom right corner.




Configure for each user their own e-mailaddress this way, on which they should receive the temporary password.

The function is now configured for use.



Use the password forgotten function

When the user enters an incorrect password with their username now, a pop-up window appears to inform that the password is incorrect.




After the user has clicked on the OK button, a button Forgot your password appears in the bottom left corner of the login window.




Click on this button to request a temporary password.

A pop-up window appears with the question if Plan-IT should send a temporary password to the configued e-mailaddress.

Click on the Yes button to confirm this.




An e-mail is sent now to the configured e-mailaddress with a randomly generated temporary password.

When the user logs in now with the temporary password, a window appears in which a new password can be created.




Enter a new password and click on the Change button in the bottom right corner.
